Our Story
Nixie Davidsohn is no stranger to adversity, battling and overcoming childhood abuse, anxiety, depression, teenage homelessness, and the debilitating effects of an autoimmune disease. As a driven and ambitious individual, she achieved an impressive educational milestone by graduating high school in just 2.5 years. Her volunteer work and writing skills earned her a full scholarship to UC Irvine, where she excelled and graduated with Regent Honors, earning a degree in Psychology and Social Behavior. Building upon her academic success, she pursued a career as a Certified Personal Trainer and Life-Changer in Washington, DC. Her expertise and coaching skills were sought after by high-profile politicians, who sought her guidance on functional training techniques, sustainable happiness, and finding their true purpose.
In 2021, Nixie was inspired by a vision that propelled her towards the creation of a nonprofit that would uplift children, and give back to those who couldn’t help themselves.
Driven by a deep-seated desire to assist others, she envisioned the fulfillment that would come from making a meaningful impact, viewing it as a way to nurture her own soul. Without hesitation, she embarked on the journey by filing the necessary paperwork and swiftly initiated her altruistic mission. Her dedication bore fruitful results as she successfully secured substantial grants for small African companies devoted to improving shelter and education. Happy Hüt Sanctüary is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization providing shelter, food, and counseling to impoverished people worldwide. We focus on connecting with other nonprofits, to create a larger impact on small communities.
The journey with Uganda, Africa began with a year of heartfelt discussions and blossoming friendship, paving the way for a meaningful business partnership. Nixie and Kakeeto joined forces to create a haven for orphans by establishing a school through their organizations: Happy Hüt Sanctuary and Uplift Child Mentorship – Now all officially under the name “Happy Hüt Sanctüary!”
In the year 2022, the two organizations secured a rented school building, complete with dormitories, bathrooms, a kitchen, and classrooms, all set against the backdrop of a volunteer-driven initiative. No salaries are drawn, and the utmost aspiration is to transition to a model where we have a permanently owned land, and sanctuary, and our dedicated teachers are fairly compensated for their invaluable service within the school.
All financial support stems directly from monthly member donations, fundraisers, business partners, as well as the personal monthly contributions of Nixie and Kakeeto, embodying a shared commitment to this important cause.
