It’s a universally acknowledged truth that helping others is the very essence of fulfillment.
Nixie Davidsohn, President
Our mission is to improve the mental, physical, and spiritual health of economically disadvantaged humans through faith, love, purpose, nutrition, fitness, and community.
Inherent Rights
Happy Hüt Sanctüary is founded on the belief of inherent human rights: every human deserves to have shelter, food, water, education, and to be empowered with hope.
International Work for Peace and Equity
Nixie has established relationships in Uganda with Uplift Child Mentorship to provide shelter, food, education, daily necessities and empowerment to extremely disadvantaged children.
As a nonprofit, we use our current proceeds in the following ways:
- To go directly to our student orphans in our school in Uganda
- Purchasing rent for shelters, food, clothes, shoes, soaps, medicines, hygiene, and other goods needed for daily living
- Purchasing school supplies: Math and English books, paper, pencils, pens, markers, lessons, posters, printers, printing and laminating services, whiteboards, markers, craft supplies, workbooks, technology, AI access, etc.
- Funds that are in excess will go into a savings account for future planning:
- Rent and food are priority and will be paid through the end of the year.
Rent is $150 per month, and food is about $150+ for ten volunteers and 65 children. We would like to supply them with more seeds and food supplies than this bare minimum amount. - Building a school is our next goal, as paying rent is one of our largest expenses. This will give us the safety, security, and territory for our children and volunteers.
- Rent and food are priority and will be paid through the end of the year.
- Full fund plans and costs available upon proper request*

Recent Fundraisers
On August 4th, 2024 we began a fundraiser to pay the rest of the year’s rent. It is stressful for the entire organization to live month-to-month, based on administration salaries, so we really wanted to push for the rent to be paid until the end of the year. At $150 x 5 = $750, we raised it to $777 for a fun number. Our gracious Landlord in Uganda didn’t even know we we’re having a fundraiser, and miraculously offered us December Rent Free during our fundraiser! So when we raised $600, it was already enough to hit our goal. We kept going with online music streams and merch sales to reach our final goal and give back more, much needed, food supplies. Pictures below!
On July 21st, 2024, After the girls’ Kosher Cookie fundraiser, the Happy Hüt Sanctüary was able to purchase a waffle maker, to now give them an alternative food option: waffles! We are a vegan organization and use flax seed, whole grains, and fresh fruits; giving the students much-needed nutrients in a fun way!
Juliet, our head teacher, had the idea 💡 to SELL waffles at her job; She works at a school in Kampala, Uganda, the main city, where the children and families have funds. They accepted us into the Cantine, and we now are selling waffles Monday-Friday!!!
This supplies the Sanctuary with enough funds to pay the water and electricity bill, and to keep the business going. We continue to use new recipe ideas, improve upon the packaging, and hope to expand the waffle business, calling it “Happy Waffles.” 🥰
On May 19th, 2024, we had a successful HappyHüt Fundraiser in collaboration with a couple of Nixie’s students in Los Angeles, who wanted to connect cultures and bring waffles to Africa! They began by writing letters to one another, and learning about what they ate, and did each day.
The two Los Angeles high school students, Sara and Shani, made beautiful Kosher-Vegan cookies from scratch, and raised $266! With these funds, they chose to use their $100 to pay for a waffle grill and ingredients.
With the left over money, they chose to donate a printer, a much-needed tool for our school. And with a few dollars left, they were able to buy cookies for the HappyHüt students to enjoy too. It is such a sweet connection, and I look forward to seeing what we can do together this Summer! See more photos below!
On December 21st, 2024, we sent our annual donations for school supplies, cookies, and small gifts for the holidays. Each year around Christmas, we try to bring them a little something extra. Through our ongoing Tech Donation Drive, we received a smartphone and tablet to gift to the children’s fun and education. Next year, with your help, we can host a large holiday party, with gifts, food, new technology, and toys.
